Kritika Manchanda (b. 1990, India) is an artist who lives and works in New York. Her artistic practice primarily engages with craft and textile, exploring themes of identity, space and the fragility of memory. Through her work, she revisits clothing, mementos, and artifacts from her childhood. Fine layers of textile, delicate underthings, and found objects are starched and compressed into preserved compositions.Manchanda creates works that seem to exist in a state of altered dimension, dissolving the boundaries between materiality and memory. She was recognized with the 2018 CFDA Geoffrey Beene Scholarship Award and was a finalist for the 2019 Gucci Design Fellowship Program.
